Kurt Ferreira to receive IEEE TCSC Early Career Award

UNM Graduate and Research Associate Professor Kurt Ferreira has been selected to receive the 2015 IEEE Technical Committee on Supercomputing (TCSC) Award for Excellence for Early Career Researchers. The award will be presented during the Award Ceremony at the ACM/IEEE International Conference on Supercomputing (SC'15) in Austin in November. This award recognizes up to three individuals who have made outstanding, influential, and potentially long-lasting contributions in the field of scalable computing within five years of receiving their PhD.

Kurt received his Ph.D. from UNM CS in 2011, and is currently a Principal Member of Technical Staff in Scalable System Software Department (1423) at Sandia National Laboratories. His research interests include the design and construction of operating systems and runtimes for massively parallel systems and innovative application and system-level fault-tolerance mechanisms. In addition, Kurt is a Research Associate Professor in the UNM Department of Computer Science, where he actively collaborates with UNM faculty, staff, and students.
